Morning collision in Yacolt kills area teen

The deceased driver of the vehicle is a 17-year-old male juvenile

YACOLT — A 17-year-old male died in a single vehicle collision this morning in Yacolt.

Just after 9 a.m., Clark County Fire District 10 and Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) personnel responded to a single vehicle collision in the 34900 block of NE Kelly Road.  Upon arrival, they discovered a full size pickup had struck a tree off the roadway, and was upside down. The single occupant, a young male, was pronounced dead at the scene. A witness described seeing the vehicle “fishtailing” on icy roads prior to the crash.

The deceased driver of the vehicle is a 17-year-old male juvenile.  His family has been notified and has requested his name not be made public at this time.  CCSO is respecting their request. The Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is investigating this collision.

As a tragic reminder, many Clark County roadways that did not dry yesterday froze over last night.  CCSO officials ask that drivers use extreme caution when traveling, especially during this week of freezing temperatures.
