WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) released the following statement on the Inauguration of the 47th President of the United States:
“In Southwest Washington, we have more in common than divides us. As I meet with folks across the wide reaches of our district, I frequently hear about common goals, priorities, and aspirations for our communities – not about divisive partisan politics.
Today, I attended the Inauguration of President Donald Trump on behalf of Washington’s Third District, and I witnessed the peaceful transfer of power that is core to our democracy. I’m glad to have met many of you from Southwest Washington who traveled all the way out to our nation’s capital to celebrate our country.
With a new Presidential Administration taking shape, I’m willing and eager to work with anyone on the issues that matter most to you, such as fighting the fentanyl hollowing out our rural communities, rebuilding jobs in our woods, and lowering the cost of high-quality childcare, housing, and goods.
As your independent voice in Congress, I remain committed to fighting for our shared values and against clickbait political agendas cooked up in D.C. There’s a lot of good, bipartisan work to get done, and I’m profoundly grateful to get to do it on your behalf.”

Yes, there was a peaceful transition of power, but only because there was a departing Democratic administration that admitted it lost the election. Had it been a departing Republican we’d probably have witnessed another coup attempt just like the last time. So now we have a fascist in the White House who’s already started the attempt to dismantle the government. Good luck to the United States—we’ll need it.
And yet she voted against legislation that would not allow biological men to compete against women in women’s sports. Talk is cheap.
You didn’t read the bill
Rep Perez saying that there was a smooth transition by Biden for Trump. There was one photo op where the two met shook hands and smiled. Beyond that, Rep Perez must live in another world. Biden’s effort to be divisive, undermine the transition and put barriers (pardons) up to Trump in cleaning house, is well documented. The senate democrats are being resistant to confirming Trump’s nominees. I remember listening to confirmation hearings for Biden’s nominees. One woman for the US Supreme Court justice could not even define a woman and was confirmed anyway. Biden’s pardons are so vague and far ranging that there is a question of whether or not they will stand on challenge. Biden showed his egotistical nature with the pardons as he was protecting himself.
