There were no injuries and the American Red Cross was on scene to help the displaced homeowners
On Saturday (June 1) at about 5:30 p.m., the Vancouver Fire Department along with Clark County Fire District 6 were dispatched to a residential fire at 5700 NE 45th Street. While crews were en route, dispatchers received multiple calls that the fire was possibly extending into the neighboring house.
The first fire engine arrived at a small single-story residence with fire showing from the garage. Firefighters pulled hose lines to the garage and started fighting the fire from the outside while the second engine company made access through the front door. Once inside crews searched for any victims and ensured the fire did not spread to the main living space.
The fire was brought under control in approximately 20 minutes. Due to the extent of the damage, major overhaul was needed to be performed to include putting firefighters on the roof to cut holes to access the attic space.
Vancouver Fire and Clark County Fire District 6 responded with four fire engines, two ladder trucks, two squads and a battalion chief for a total of 22 firefighters. There were no injuries and the American Red Cross was on scene to help the displaced homeowners.
