Vancouver man taken to area hospital with minor tissue wounds
On Monday (Sept. 26), at about 5:45 p.m., Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an active physical disturbance involving a machete behind the Globe Lighting business in Hazel Dell.
Multiple witnesses reported an altercation involving two males at a homeless encampment in a physical altercation where one of the males was striking the other with a machete. Prior to the arrival of law enforcement, the suspect with the machete had fled the scene on a bicycle.
Deputies arrived to find a male with multiple injuries from the assault, who was subsequently transported to the hospital with what was later found to be minor tissue wounds. Deputies later located and subsequently arrested the suspect, 41-year-old Vancouver resident Frank Rios, who was still in possession of the machete used in the assault. Rios was also still in possession of the bicycle that he had taken from the victim after assaulting him. The victim was identified as 40-year-old Vancouver resident Ronnie Anderson.
Through the investigation, deputies found that Rios assaulted Anderson after observing him with his ex-girlfriend. Frank Rios was booked into the Clark County Law Enforcement Center for one count of assault in the first degree and one count of robbery in the first degree.
With the assistance of witnesses, deputies recovered the stolen property and were able to return these items to the victim in this case.
