Crash backs up traffic on northbound I-5 near La Center

Multiple vehicles involved in accident, which led to 70 gallons of fuel spilling into the North Fork of the Lewis River

A multi-vehicle crash caused a backup of traffic for several miles on Interstate 5 near La Center Wednesday afternoon. The incident involved multiple vehicles and took place on northbound I-5 near the Interstate Bridge over the North Fork of the Lewis River.

Washington State Patrol spokesman Will Finn reported that the crash involved three commercial vehicles, two passenger vehicles and one truck towing a trailer. Finn also reported that 70 gallons of fuel had spilled into the North Fork of the Lewis River. 

Finn reported that the Washington State Department of Ecology had crews in boats in the water attempting to contain the fuel spill.

The right and center lanes of I-5 northbound were blocked after the accident and traffic was backed up for several miles.
