VANCOUVER – The city of Vancouver is currently seeking applicants to fill volunteer positions on five advisory boards and commissions. The deadline to apply for each position is Sept. 27.
The following is a list of – and brief descriptions of – boards and commissions seat vacancies the city is seeking to fill:
- Clark County Public Health Advisory Council (one vacancy): The Clark County Public Health Advisory Council is a 20-member volunteer body that makes recommendations to County Councilors. Among the council’s top priorities are addressing adverse childhood experiences, community health improvement planning and support for healthy children. Interested applicants must be available for an interview with Vancouver City Council before a recommendation for appointment. Learn more and apply.
- Civil Service Commission (one vacancy): The Civil Service Commission is responsible for adopting rules for regulation of classified service, appointing a secretary/chief examiner, providing for competitive testing to prepare civil service eligible candidate lists for the Vancouver Police and Fire departments, hearing and determining appeals, and investigating and reporting on matters relating to the enforcement of civil service matters. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of the City of Vancouver and a registered voter of Clark County. Applicants must also be available for an interview with Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle. - Fort Vancouver Regional Library District Board of Trustees (one vacancy): The seven-member board of trustees oversees the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District system whose service area includes Clark (excluding Camas), Klickitat and Skamania counties, plus the city of Woodland in Cowlitz County. Board members are responsible for setting library policies for the district’s 15 libraries, bookmobiles, online services and operations center. - Parking Advisory Committee (one vacancy): The Parking Advisory Committee is a seven-member volunteer body that advises the Vancouver City Council and City staff on parking policy and program implementation. Applicants must live or own property anywhere within the Vancouver city limits, and/or serve as an executive officer/partner or employee at a business located in the downtown area. Applicants must also be available for a phone interview with the Vancouver City Council. Learn more and apply.
- Planning Commission (two vacancies): The seven-member Planning Commission makes recommendations to Vancouver City Council on topics related to the future growth and development of Vancouver. The City is committed to ensuring the Planning Commission represents diverse community voices with varying lived and professional experiences.
