The driver of a vehicle involved in a collision with a bicyclist Tuesday morning in Ridgefield has been arrested for vehicular assault.
On Tuesday (July 4) at about 9:06 a.m., a report was made to 9-1-1 of a bicyclist who was involved in a collision with a vehicle on NW 291st. Street near the intersection with NW 71st Ave. in Ridgefield.
First responders with Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue, AMR, Ridgefield Police and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office arrived to find an injured bicyclist and the driver of the vehicle who had remained at the scene.
The bicyclist was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with serious injuries. Detectives with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit responded to the scene and are conducting an investigation.
The driver, 60-year-old Stephen Sauro of Ridgefield, was arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail.
This case is active pending further investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit.
