Scott will assume the role following the retirement of longtime principal Julie Mueller

The Camas School District has selected Ryan Scott as the next principal of Lacamas Lake Elementary, pending approval by the school board. Scott will assume the role following the retirement of longtime principal Julie Mueller.

Scott currently serves as associate principal in the district, supporting both Helen Baller Elementary and Woodburn Elementary. He has also worked at Dorothy Fox Elementary and Grass Valley Elementary, building strong connections with students, staff, and families across the Camas community.

“Ryan brings a thoughtful, student-centered approach to leadership and a deep commitment to our community,” said Superintendent John Anzalone. “He understands the importance of strong instructional systems, positive school culture, and meaningful relationships. We are excited for him to lead Lacamas Lake Elementary into its next chapter.”

In his current role, Scott has partnered with staff to strengthen literacy and math instruction, supported collaborative team structures, and helped refine systems that support student success, including scheduling, attendance, and interventions. He also served as interim principal at Woodburn Elementary, ensuring continuity of leadership and daily operations.

Scott’s background as a teacher, counselor, and administrator reflects a consistent focus on supporting the whole child and building environments where both students and staff can thrive. His leadership emphasizes listening, collaboration, and creating clear, consistent, and responsive systems that meet student needs.

“I am honored to serve the Lacamas Lake community,” Scott said. “I believe schools do their best work when students feel known, staff feel supported, and families feel connected. I look forward to building on the strong foundation already in place and continuing to support every student’s growth.”

Scott holds multiple advanced degrees and certifications in education, counseling, and leadership. He is also a parent in the Camas School District.

The district extends its deep appreciation to Julie Mueller for her years of dedicated service and leadership at Lacamas Lake Elementary and wishes her the very best in her retirement.
