Event to be held Tue., June 5 at the Hilton Vancouver
VANCOUVER — The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington is hosting its Annual Luncheon on Tue., June 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hilton Vancouver Washington.
The program includes an awards ceremony that will recognize the 2018 Philanthropists of the Year, Al and Sandee Kirkwood, for their outstanding charitable leadership and volunteerism. The couple has provided support for major capital campaigns connected to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington, Clark County Food Bank, Innovative Services NW, Open House Ministries, Share and many others.
Their decades-long history of giving has consistently supported programs and services for children, single mothers and families in Clark County. Most recently, they exemplified this commitment in a gift that will help construct a family resource center on the Open House Ministries campus in Vancouver.
The local grantmaking organization will also present its Friend of the Foundation Award to Brett Bryant for providing both professional and personal support to the Community Foundation’s mission of promoting philanthropy in southwest Washington. Bryant is the former chair of the organization’s Board of Directors and began his service as a volunteer on the organization’s Investment Committee in 2002.
Over the years, he launched its Professional Advisory Council, assisted in the dramatic growth of its charitable assets, and championed its discretionary grantmaking focus on intergenerational poverty.
This year’s program, themed Unboxed: The Gratitude Project, will explore philanthropy through the lens of gratefulness and demonstrate how it can contribute to a thriving community. Tickets to the non-fundraising event are $50 and are available at www.cfsww.org.
