Skateboarder hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being hit by dump truck in Vancouver

Police say the the driver of the dump truck is cooperating and that there are no indications of impairment

A 32-year-old skateboarder has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a dump truck in Vancouver Tuesday afternoon, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Police responded to the call at 2:40 p.m. Initial information indicated the skateboarder was traveling north on D Street from 13th and entered traffic on Mill Plain when he was hit by the truck. The man was taken to a local hospital.

Police say the driver of the truck is cooperating and there are no indications of impairment.

“The Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating and two lanes of eastbound Mill Plain are anticipated to be closed for approximately two hours while investigators are on scene,” according to the police department.

No additional information, including the names of those involved, has been released.
