Share House catches fire; no injuries reported

Residents displaced, Share hot meals service temporarily serving brown bag meals

VANCOUVER — Late Tuesday evening, a fire began in a third-floor resident room at Share House, 1115 W 13th St. No injuries occurred and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Vancouver Police Department.

“We are truly grateful that no one was injured in the fire, however all of the residents of Share House have been displaced. We’d like to thank St. Paul Lutheran Church for so quickly stepping up to help house some of our residents,” said Amy Reynolds, deputy director.

Additional residents were housed at Share Orchards Inn and Share Homestead.

While the basement floor of the building that houses the kitchen, dining room and Share Hot Meals program was not damaged, the program will be unable to serve hot meals until further notice. Brown bag meals will be served at 12 noon and 5 p.m., plus a continental breakfast at 7 a.m.

Additional updates, including when residents are able to move back into Share House, will be made to the public as information is available.
