Suspect in Wednesday stabbing fled on foot but was apprehended nearby, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office
VANCOUVER — A 69-year-old Clark County man was hospitalized Wednesday after his 24-year-old grandson allegedly stabbed him in the neck, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The stabbing occurred in the 4000 block of Northeast 44th Avenue and was reported at about 8:50 a.m. The suspect, who was not identified by the sheriff’s office, allegedly fled on foot from the scene but was taken into custody a short time later in a nearby park without further issues.
The injuries to the 69-year-old man were described as “serious” in a press memo from the sheriff’s office. He was transported to an area hospital.
Area schools were placed on lockdown as law enforcement officials handled the scene, but those cautionary measures are no longer in place.
The investigation by the Clark County Major Crimes Unit and Tactical Detective Unit is ongoing.
