Fire involving both vehicle and house contained by firefighters
A car drove into a home in East Vancouver Wednesday, causing a fire to both the vehicle and the residence.
Vancouver Fire Department (VFD) crews were dispatched to the house fire at 2610 NE 164th Ave. After arriving, firefighters found a sedan that had driven into the side of a house and the house was on fire. The first two arriving engine companies worked quickly to contain the fire to the involved vehicle and outside wall of the two-story, single-family residence.
The fire was made more difficult to fight due to a compromised natural gas line that was feeding the fire and power to the house was sparking all in the same area. Both power to the residence and gas was turned off by NW Natural Gas and Clark Public Utilities.
VFD had 24 firefighters on scene. The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
