The wrestling scene in Clark County continues to thrive, with 14 athletes making it to their state championship matches at Mat Classic in the Tacoma Dome

It was yet another huge year for Clark County wrestlers at Mat Classic.
The county had 14 wrestlers make it to the finals, and nine of them took home state championships at the Tacoma Dome last week.
Jonas DesRochers and Mason DesRochers, now representing Ridgefield, won their third state titles in as many years. The brothers had won 4A titles at Skyview and now are 2A champions at Ridgefield.
Connor Crum of Seton Catholic is a two-time 1A boys state champion.
In girls wrestling, Madisyn Cardens of Skyview (4A) and Victoria Nicacio of Washougal (2) won their second consecutive state titles.
Alec Fraser and Kannon Freshcette, both from Camas, took home 4A boys state titles.
Garrett Lees of Washougal earned a 2A boys title.
Hunter Shirley of La Center is a state champion. Interestingly, he defeated teammate Dillon Regis in the semifinals. Regis would finish third at 106 pounds.
The Union girls did not get any individual champions, but the Titans did have six wrestlers who placed, leading to a second-place finish in the 4A team standings.
The Ridgefield boys, led by their two state champions, had six other placers. The Spudders finished third in the Class 2A team standings.
The Camas boys, with two state champions, also had four other placers to finish fifth in the 4A team points.

The state gymnastics championships were held this weekend, as well.
The Camas girls finished third in the Class 4A team standings. Columbia River took fourth in the 3A/2A/1A team standings.
