Introductory meeting is scheduled for Thursday evening at Firstenburg Community Center
Jayson Dodge is a Prairie Falcon.
Even 35 years after he graduated from Prairie High School.
Now living in Oregon, Dodge is hosting a meeting Thursday night in hopes of creating a Prairie High School Alumni Association.
He wants to create a scholarship program.
He wants to organize clubs and activities.
Maybe a book club? A car club? Just different activities that alumni can be a part of, all with the shared experience of attending Prairie High School at some time in the past.
“The possibilities are endless,” Dodge said.
Dodge is not officially affiliated with Battle Ground Public Schools nor Prairie High School.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Firstenburg Community Center, 700 NE 136th Ave. in Vancouver. The meeting is open to alumni and former staff members of the school.
“I was an average student. I was just a middle-of-the-road student, going to school, taking classes, hanging out with friends,” said Dodge, who graduated in 1988. “Just getting the high school experience, the typical teenage life.”
His time at Prairie, though, had quite the impression.
He even created a website (prairietalon.org) with information on former students, plus schedules for today’s happenings at Prairie. The site has news about Prairie, along with memorials for Falcons who have passed away. There is also reunion information on the page.
“Just proud to represent my school,” Dodge said. “Proud that I spent four years at Prairie High School. I just enjoyed being a student, being a Falcon.”
