Family friend has set up a GoFundMe account so parents can stay with their children at the hospital
Twin babies from La Center are fighting for their lives in a Portland hospital and a GoFundMe account has been set up to help their parents stay with their children and focus on their family.
Piper and Hans are suffering from respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, and are at Randalls Children’s Hospital in Portland.
Their parents, Sophia and Brody Hollingshead, are looking to stay with their children during these trying times.
A close family friend has set up a GoFundMe account, hoping to raise at least $10,000 for the family to not have concerns with everyday costs and bills.
“Sofia and Brody are not ones to ask for help but let’s come together and help them be able to stay with their twins,” wrote Courtney Dawson on the GoFundMe page. “Let’s show them how much our little community can show up for them.”
RSV cases dropped during the pandemic, but hospitals throughout the country have been seeing an increase in the virus among young children. Oregon’s governor, Kate Brown, issued an executive order this week to help hospitals combat the rising cases of RSV.
Piper will be on a ventilator for at least seven days, according to an update on the GoFundMe page. Hans also has pneumonia.
