Buying units developed by a private sector construction company is a cost-efficient way to supplement the number of units that VHA can add as affordable housing in Clark County
Vancouver Housing Authority is seeking ways to leverage its relationship with local developers and contractors to increase the area’s affordable housing stock. There are two options VHA would like to explore:
- Purchase and sale agreements for properties under construction or planned construction; in this arrangement, VHA would sign an agreement that provides for VHA acquisition once the project is complete. VHA would not be involved in the design or financing of the construction.
- Master lease/purchase options; VHA would master lease a building with an option to purchase it once funds are secured.
VHA has many projects in play and proposed projects that are being developed in house. However, buying units developed by a private sector construction company is a cost-efficient way to supplement the number of units that VHA can add as affordable housing in Clark County.
