Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue and Clark County Fire District 3 were dispatched at 3:07 p.m. Thursday (June 16) afternoon to a residential structure fire at 6817 NE 255th Street in Clark County.

The reporting caller indicated that the front door was open and that the living room was filled with black smoke. Another caller indicated seeing flames.
The initial assignment included three fire engines, two ladder trucks, two water tenders, and one battalion chief. CCFR Engine 26 from the Dollar’s Corner fire station arrived at 3:13 p.m. and reported a small, single-story residential structure, with flames and smoke coming from a bedroom on the backside of the house. Additional units were dispatched at that time to assist with water supply, due to the lack of hydrants near this location.
Engine 26 initiated an exterior fire attack on the backside of the structure, operating in an offensive strategy. Multiple other fire units arrived and initiated an interior fire attack, along with primary and secondary searches of the structure. The fire was brought under control and the dispatch burn timer was released at 3:34 p.m.
The structure was severely damaged by the fire and smoke. Three people, including one child and two adults were displaced by the fire. Multiple cats and dogs were unaccounted for at the time of this release. There were no injuries during this incident.
The fire is under investigation by the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office, with assistance from the Clark-Cowlitz Fire Marshal’s Office. The cause has not been determined at this time.
