The Vancouver Volcanoes are just about ready to erupt in front of their home crowd for the first time this season.
And home is still home for the home opener, but home will be changing venues for much of the rest of the season.
Huh?
Exactly.
The Volcanoes, Vancouver’s professional basketball team that plays in The Basketball League, will have its home opener Friday at Clark College. The team has used Clark College as its home base for most of its games through the years.
This year, though, after Friday’s games, the rest of the home schedule will be held at Hudson’s Bay High School, just across the street from Clark College. Just a scheduling conflict, said Curtis Hill, team market owner of the Volcanoes.
He said fans should still expect “affordable, family friendly fun” at every home game this season.
The Volcanoes opened the 2024 season with a 118-101 victory at the Eugene Jaguars last week. Markus Golder was named the player of the game by the team. He scored 29 points plus he had four rebounds and three steals.
The Volcanoes are playing at Seattle on Thursday (March 7). The SuperHawks won the Western Conference of the TBL last season.
The Volcanoes will then travel back to Vancouver to get ready to host two games in three days.
Vancouver will take on the Salem Capitals at 7 p.m. Friday at Clark College. And on Sunday, the same two teams will meet — at Hudson’s Bay High School — for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
Friday’s game is also a fundraiser for the East Vancouver Business Association. On Sunday, money will be raised for Chelsea’s Closet. There will be 50/50 raffles and other ways fans can help out with those organizations.
Tickets for the Volcanoes are $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and youth. There are also season ticket packages available. For ticket information and more information on the 2024 Vancouver Volcanoes, go to: https://vancouvervolcanoes.com/
