Soccer, volleyball, and swimming athletes and teams get to shine at state events

Several Clark County teams and athletes make it to final tournaments of the season

Clark County has seven girls soccer teams and four volleyball teams that have made it to the state tournaments.

There are also are a number of swimmers who have made it to the state championships in Federal Way this weekend.

State soccer begins Tuesday for some and Wednesday for other teams, with each tournament taking two weeks to complete.

State volleyball is Friday and Saturday for three teams, Thursday and Friday for another, and those championships will be determined this week.

The state swimming meets will be Friday and Saturday at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way.

Here are the soccer and volleyball schedules for first-round contests and then a list of the swimmers from Clark County who are scheduled to compete at state:

Class 4A soccer:
Union will travel to take on Jackson at 6 p.m Tuesday at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Defending state champion Camas will host Bellarmine Prep at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Doc Harris Stadium.

Class 3A soccer:
Mountain View will travel east to face Kamiakin at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Prairie will get a home match, taking on Marysville Getchel at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Class 2A soccer:
Hockinson is heading to North Kitsap for a 6:30 kickoff Tuesday.

Defending state champion Columbia River will host Clarkston at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Kiggins Bowl.

Class 1A soccer:
King’s Way Christian will host Lynden Christian at 6 p.m. Wednesday.


Vollyball

Class 3A volleyball:
Prairie will have an early wake-up call, with an 8 a.m. match Friday vs. Roosevelt to open the state tournament at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.

Class 2A volleyball:
Ridgefield, coming off its District 4 championship, has a 9 a.m. match Friday against Washington at St. Martin’s University in Lacey.

Class 1A volleyball:
La Center will have a longer wait for its first-round match. The Wildcats will play Cascade (Leavenworth) at 5:15 p.m. Friday at the Yakima Valley SunDome.

Class 1B volleyball:
Firm Foundation clinched its first state tournament appearance in program history. The 1B tournament is Thursday and Friday. Firm Foundation will take on Almira Coulee Hartline at 9:45 a.m. in its first-round match Thursday.
