Hockinson, La Center well represented on all-state football teams

Hawks have six players on the Class 2A team and Wildcats have four players on the Class 1A team

The Associated Press all-state football teams were announced Friday and the names of Clark County athletes littered the list of players honored in all classifications by a vote of sportswriters around the state.

Hockinson quarterback Canon Racanelli was named the Class 2A state Player of the Year, The senior signal caller was one of six members of the Hawks’ state championship team to be named to the 2A team.

Racanelli was joined by brother Sawyer Racanelli on the 2A first team. The younger Racanelli, just a sophomore, was named as a wide receiver. Hockinson’s Kordell Johnson was named to the first team as an offensive lineman and Kyle Brabec (defensive line) and Colton Wheeler (linebacker) were first-teamers on defense.

Hockinson’s Matt Henry (defensive back) and Columbia River’s Beau Braden (offensive line) were honorable mention selections to the 2A team.

At the 1A level, four members of La Center’s team that advanced to the state semifinals were given all-state status. Jack Hiller was a first team offensive lineman and was also named as an honorable mention as a defensive lineman. Teammates Wyatt Dodson (running back), Wyatt Seibert (defensive line) and Evan Honore (defensive back) were also first-team selections.

Union’s Darien Chase (wide receiver) and Camas linebacker Luke Bruno were both first-team selections at the 4A level. Union linebacker Riley Miller was an honorable mention selection at linebacker.

Mountain View’s Joey Roberts, an offensive lineman, was an honorable mention selection to the 3A all-state team.
