Exhibit is presented in time for Oct. 6 First Friday in Camas
Autumn brings new fall colors to Pike Art Gallery this First Friday, Oct. 6. The public is invited to see a new body of work by Camas artist Liz Pike and Vancouver artist Blue Bond at an artists’ reception from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pike Art Gallery, located at 302 NE Sixth Avenue in Camas. The gallery is located at the corner of Birch Street and Sixth Avenue in Uptown Camas. Attendees can meet the artists, find out what inspires them and enjoy complimentary beverages with charcuterie at the popular monthly art exhibition.
Pike is unveiling a new body of work titled “Ghost Pumpkins of Shangri-La” in oil on canvas. “For the first time, I added ghost pumpkins to our traditional pumpkin patch at our organic farm in Fern Prairie. I fell in love with these beauties during harvest. And they inspired an entire series of oil paintings,” said Pike.
Much of her inspiration comes from her lush gardens at Shangri-La Farm. “Naturally, growing new plantings always leads to painting them,” she said. Pike has been juried into the Nov. 4 & 5 Clark County Open Studios Tour for the seventh consecutive year. On the first weekend in November, area residents can discover Clark County’s creative side in a free self-guided tour as 51 local artists open their studios to the public and show how, why and where their art is created. This is an opportunity to meet the artists, get inspired and shop local. For more information about this year’s Open Studios Tour, visit artstra.org.
Pike also shows her work at several regional art festivals including the White Oak Art Festival, Fern Prairie Art Fest, Washougal Art Festival, Ridgefield’s Forest Fair, and Battle Ground’s Art in the Park. She is a member of the Battle Ground Art Alliance, Artisans Guild of Camas, the Northwest Oil Painters Guild and Society of Washington Artists. Blue Bond is an award winning and nationally known portrait artist. Both Pike and Bond work predominantly in oils on canvas.
