The Concert Band’s season opens Sunday, December 8th at Skyview, and the downbeat is 3:30 p.m. The concert opens with Christopher Green’s 2018 composition, Atlantic Fanfare. The first part of the program ends with Julie Giroux’s exciting 2020 composition Burning the Wickerman.
As is the custom, the December concert features several small ensembles. This year, they are presenting Maestro Don Appert’s newest work, Invictus II, written for the brass section in this, his 35th and final year with Clark College. The performance follows that with works for both the woodwind choir and the percussion ensemble.
The full band returns with American composer Samuel Barber’s classic Commando March, the beautiful work The Old Boatman by Florence Price and they conclude the concert with another American masterpiece, Chorale and Alleluia, by Howard Hanson. As always, the concerts are free and open to the public.
