Officially, Camas Days is two full days of events
Unofficially, two days is just not enough to contain Camas Days.
The schedule of events for Camas Days, later this week, has been released. Those who live in Camas and any visitors can join in as the community celebrates with parades, music, street vendors, kids’ activities, and more. Organized by the Camas-Washougal Chamber of Commerce, this year’s theme is America the Beautiful.
Thursday night, there will be a concert in the park at Dorothy Fox Elementary School, 2623 NW Sierra St.
Also, there is the start of the Used Book Sale at the Camas Library. The sale is open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Camas Days officially runs Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27.
On Friday, vendor booths will be open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. across six city blocks in downtown Camas. Food booths will be set up on Birch Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues.
Kids Street opens from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., with a huge inflatable slide, an obstacle course, games and more. That will be located on Dallas St., and 4th Ave.
There will be a Kids’ Parade at 12:15 p.m. The lining up for the parade, and judging, will begin at 11:30 a.m. in front of City Hall at 4th and Franklin.
A beer and wine garden opens at 5 p.m. on Birch Street between 4th and 5th Avenues.
The Beth Willis Band will perform from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., and then the Caddies will perform from 7 until 10:30 p.m.
Saturday is the biggest day of the community celebration.
Vendor and food booths are open again, starting at 10 a.m. The Kids’ Street opens at 11 a.m.
Then there is the main event: The Camas Days Grand Parade is at 11 a.m., from 4th Avenue, Oak, to Adams.
Immediately following the parade, the Senior Royalty Luncheon will be honoring Camas Days’ royalty at Zion Lutheran Social Hall, 3rd and Garfield.
The excitement shifts from parade floats to bathtubs at 1 p.m. Yes, bathtubs. The always popular Bathtub Races are set to return.
The beer and wine garden will open again at 5 p.m. Saturday.
And the Beth Willis Band and the Caddies will perform Saturday night, too.
The day after the big day still has some big things on the schedule.
There is the annual softball tournament on Sunday.
And from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., there is a Picnic in Color, held on Cedar between 4th and 5th. The picnic is hosted by the Downtown Camas Association.
And at noon, at the picnic, the Ducky Derby drawing.
Clark County Today expects to have a photographer in Camas this weekend to capture some of the magical moments.
