As a lifelong resident of Brush Prairie, a former student of Hockinson schools, and a current local realtor, I have deep personal and professional ties to this community. The Hockinson School District has played an integral role in shaping not only my life but the lives of countless others.

From the moment I walked through the doors of Hockinson Elementary, to graduating as a proud member of the Hockinson High School class, I experienced the strength of this district’s commitment to education and community. My grandfather served as a janitor in our schools, and today, my uncle continues to inspire students as a teacher here. Our schools are not just buildings — they are the heartbeat of our community.
As a realtor, I have a unique perspective on how the strength of our schools directly impacts the desirability of living in Brush Prairie and Hockinson. Time and time again, I’ve seen families choosing to settle in this area because of the strong academic reputation of Hockinson. Our schools are a driving force in our local real estate market. When families look for homes here, they’re not just seeking a place to live — they’re investing in a community that is committed to providing a quality education for their children. They’re seeking the peace of mind that comes with knowing their children will have access to the same excellent opportunities I had when I was a student.
The strength of our schools is a pillar that holds up the entire community — financially, socially, and emotionally. That’s why I’m passionately supporting the upcoming bond measure. This bond is not just a financial investment in our schools; it’s an investment in our future. The proposed measure will address critical issues in our school infrastructure and safety, ensuring that our students continue to learn in environments that foster growth, creativity, and academic excellence. We need to invest in our children’s safety, modernize aging facilities, and provide the resources necessary for our students to succeed. If we fail to do so, we risk not only compromising the educational experience but also diminishing the long-term value of our homes and community. We cannot afford to wait.
Our schools are growing, and so is the demand for their services. The investment in school safety and infrastructure will help ensure that as our community continues to grow, we can continue to provide the same level of education that has earned Hockinson its reputation as one of the most sought-after school districts in the region. As a parent and community member, I know that ensuring the safety and well-being of our students is paramount. This bond measure will provide necessary safety upgrades, including secure entrances and updated security systems, to protect our children and ensure a safe learning environment.
The Hockinson School District has consistently demonstrated its commitment to excellence in education. The teachers, staff, and administrators work tirelessly to provide the best educational experience possible. But they need our support to continue that work. They need modern, safe, and efficient facilities to help students thrive in an ever-changing world. If we want to continue attracting families to our area, we must ensure that our schools remain an asset to the community — both academically and financially.
As a proud former student, I know that the Hockinson School District played a crucial role in shaping who I am today. I want future generations to have the same opportunities to grow and learn in the nurturing, challenging environment that I was fortunate to experience. The bond measure will help make that possible. It is a necessary step to ensure that Hockinson remains a place where families can raise their children with confidence and pride. I urge every resident of Brush Prairie and Hockinson to support this bond measure.
This is not just about funding buildings — it’s about securing the future of our children, our families, and our community. When we invest in our schools, we are investing in a brighter, stronger future for all of us. Together, we can continue to build on the legacy of excellence that has made Hockinson such a special place to live, learn, and grow.
