The state’s continual meddling in the parent/child relationship has brought more attention to school board races. Parents are tired of schools overstepping their authority. They want less time spent on social engineering and more time on academic achievement. They want their school board directors to respect parental authority. In Battle Ground Public Schools’ District 3 that candidate is Chris Grewell.

Chris’ top issues as a school board director are parental rights, transparency, academic excellence, and fiscal responsibility. He knows that families, not the state, are the foundation of society. He says the board’s first duty is to families, not agencies and believes schools need to return to their true mission of education.
Chris notes that from 2001-2016, while public school enrollment rose by 1%, charter school enrollment rose a whopping 571%. He believes the success of charter schools comes from their focus on academics and respect for families in decision-making. He sees those same principles being applied at the district’s River HomeLink program and would like to see them applied across the district.
As a Maddox project manager, former Public Works Director, air traffic controller, and U.S. Air Force vet, Chris has decades of experience managing people and budgets. He has the skill set, the values, and ideas to help create successful schools where families are respected and students can thrive.
