Camas resident Gary Perman expresses his support for Leslie Lewallen and Geoerl Niles in their races for Camas City Council positions
Editor’s note: Opinions expressed in this letter to the editor are those of the author alone and may not reflect the editorial position of ClarkCountyToday.com
Retaining Leslie Lewallen on the Camas City Council is exactly what the people of Camas need. Leslie brings her experience as a former prosecutor, her strong ties to public safety, and genuine respect for our police and fire professionals, qualities confirmed by their own endorsements.

Leslie’s record stands out for holding staff, vendors, and fellow council members accountable. She is not beholden to any mayor, outside contractor, or special interest. Her votes reflect a clear commitment to taxpayers, not to spending for its own sake, she consistently challenges proposals that would drive up costs or add burdens to residents already stretched by higher taxes.
She has been one of the few voices on the council brave enough to confront expensive consultants and unchecked staff proposals, always putting the needs of Camas families, retirees, and small business owners first. Leslie truly works for us, the citizens, placing community priorities ahead of political convenience or pressure from a liberal majority.
What really sets Leslie apart is her approachability and willingness to reach out. She listens, asks questions, and seeks solutions for people from all walks of life. She is tireless in fighting for those on fixed incomes, retirees, and working families, those most affected by the rising costs of living and increasing property taxes in Camas.
Leslie Lewallen embodies what it means to serve. She is not a politician who goes along to get along, she is an advocate, a watchdog, and a dedicated public servant. Her work ethic, personal integrity, and steadfast commitment make her the right choice for Camas during this critical time.
For all these reasons, and because she never forgets who she represents, I am proud to vote to retain Leslie Lewallen for Camas City Council.
Elect Geoerl Niles to Camas City Council, Ward 1
Electing Geoerl Niles to the Camas City Council is exactly what the taxpayers and residents of Camas need. It’s time to put people over politics and vote for positive change in our community.
Geoerl has been a deeply engaged member of our community for many years. As a senior pastor for the past 15 years, he brings not only faith-based leadership but also compassion, wisdom, and a genuine commitment to serving others. Since 2019, Geoerl has served on the Camas Planning Commission, where he’s developed a strong understanding of how our city departments and processes work. His background includes experience as a board member in ministry and as an HR director—roles that reflect his steady leadership, fairness, and ability to bring people together.
A devoted husband of 34 years, proud father, and grandfather, Geoerl represents the stability, integrity, and family values that make Camas special. He is a strong advocate for public safety and believes our Camas police and fire departments deserve the support and resources needed to keep our community safe.
Geoerl’s campaign is grounded in common-sense priorities — affordability, efficiency, and accountability. He’s committed to minimizing unnecessary fees and taxes that burden local families and businesses, while promoting cost-effective, high-quality city services. Most importantly, he understands that we must protect the small-town charm and sense of community that define Camas. Geoerl doesn’t want our city to lose its identity or become “another Vancouver.” He believes in responsible growth that preserves what makes Camas a great place to live.
I wholeheartedly believe that Geoerl Niles is the right person to represent the people of Camas. His experience, heart for service, and vision for preserving our community’s character make him the leader we need on the Camas City Council. I hope you’ll join me in supporting and voting for Geoerl Niles.
