Brush Prairie resident Robert Mattila believes it would be a mistake to send DOGE savings checks to US citizens

I think giving us people checks of up to $5000 from the savings from the activities of DOGE, The Department Of Government Efficiency, is the exact wrong thing to do. The 350,000,000 population of the United States times $5,000 equals $1,750,000,000,000 (one trillion, seven hundred fifty billion dollars). The whole idea of having DOGE is to cut our debt and deficits. We are hurtling along at 100 miles per hour, like a runaway train to bankruptcy. Giving these checks out is exactly the kind of thing that has brought us to this disastrous financial situation we are in. Giving out all those checks to us during COVID, whether we needed them or not was one of the things that brought us here. Let’s not duplicate that mistake.
There is also talk of raising the debt ceiling another four trillion dollars. If we do these two things, when we end up in bankruptcy, and the whole world comes to a screeching halt, and people are starving and committing suicide, we will have noone else to blame, but our own selves.
