Vancouver Police investigate overnight shootings

One victim did not survive his injuries, another was transported to an area hospital in critical condition

VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Police Department is investigating a pair of shootings that took place late Monday night.

On Monday (Aug. 9) at about 10:25 p.m., Vancouver Police responded to 4801 E 5th Avenue for the report of a shooting. Residents reported hearing multiple shots fired and when police arrived, they located an adult male in the parking lot who had been shot. The male was transported to an area hospital but did not survive his injuries. 

Approximately 20 minutes later at 10:46 p.m., Vancouver Police responded to 4601 NE 18th Street for the report of a drive-by shooting at an occupied vehicle in the parking lot. Police located an adult male in the vehicle who had been shot. The male was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

Detectives from the Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit are investigating both shootings and it is unknown at this time if they are connected. 

Nothing further is releasable at this time. Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call Vancouver Police.
