Vancouver Police investigate arson and assault

A 63-year-old man suffered burns after being doused with gasoline

VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Police Department is investigating an arson and assault incident that took place Thursday night.

At about 10:24 p.m., Vancouver Police responded to a vehicle fire in a parking lot at 2901 NE St. Johns Blvd. When officers arrived, they located a 63-year-old male suffering from burns. 

According to witnesses, the victim was sitting inside his vehicle and an unknown male approached the vehicle and poured gasoline on both the vehicle and the victim. The victim got out of his vehicle and the suspect ignited the vehicle on fire, which engulfed the victim in flames. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment for his burns.
