Vancouver firefighters save woman from house fire

No one else was found inside the building


Vancouver Fire Department personnel were able to rescue a woman from a house fire Tuesday night.

At 10:02 p.m. Tuesday (Fe. 8), Vancouver Fire was dispatched to the report of a structure fire at 15021 SE 5th St. in Vancouver.  Engine 9 was the first fire unit on scene and arrived within five minutes.

Upon arrival, the crew found a one-story house on fire with a woman outside saying more people were inside the home.  Crews went into rescue mode and entered the house as quickly as possible to search anyone inside.  

Firefighters were able to find one woman in the burning house.  She was taken outside and handed over to paramedics from American Medical Response for treatment and transport to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.  No one else was found inside the building.  

The fire was completely extinguished in approximately 14 minutes.  Vancouver Fire had 25 personnel on scene.  

Vancouver Fire officials would like to remind everyone to have functioning smoke detectors and an exit plan for fires in your home.
