Vancouver firefighters responded to a house fire in the 9100 block of Old Evergreen Highway. Sunday evening after a 9-1-1 caller reported their neighbor’s house was on fire and the homeowner was trying to battle the blaze with a garden hose.

At about 7:35 p.m. Sunday (April 24), nine units from the Vancouver Fire Department were dispatched to the fire in the south end of the city. Within six minutes, the first fire engine arrived to find the homeowner outside with a garden hose and an active fire burning in the attic.

Crews immediately began deploying hose lines into the structure to keep the fire from spreading. The fire was brought under control a short time later.

There were no reported injuries during this event.

There were several large scale incidents going on simultaneously to this fire and several Vancouver Fire crews were pulled from this incident and sent to other emergencies in the area.
