
Due to working smoke detectors, all occupants of the house were able to escape without injury
On Wednesday (Nov. 16) at about 5:15 a.m., Vancouver Fire Department units were dispatched to a house fire at 10107 NE 4th Street.
Four fire engines, ladder truck and a battalion chief responded to the scene. Within five minutes, the first-arriving engine found heavy fire from the front of the house. The firefighters quickly deployed a fire hose to extinguish the fire enough to enter the house.
Once inside, crews were able to contain the fire while searching for possible occupants. Due to working smoke detectors, all occupants of the house were able to escape without injury.
The fire was under control in approximately 10 minutes and a total of 17 fire department personnel were on the scene. The fire is currently under investigation by the Vancouver Fire Marshal.
The Vancouver Fire Department would like to thank the neighbor who took the time to change out the batteries for his neighbor. It made a difference in the outcome.
