The first VFD unit arrived within five minutes and found heavy black smoke and fire coming from the front and back of the apartment. They requested a second alarm in order to receive more fire crews and resources and then stretched hose lines to attack the fire from the exterior. Firefighters then entered the two-bedroom apartment to fully extinguish the fire and check for fire extension. All residents were able to evacuate safely.

The fire was under control within 15 minutes and the second alarm was not needed and was later canceled. A total of 27 firefighters operated at the fire scene. No injuries were reported. Red Cross was requested to assist the displaced residents.
