Vancouver City Council welcomes new and re-elected members; appoints mayor pro tem

VANCOUVER – During the Vancouver City Council’s first meeting of the new year Monday (Jan. 3), newly elected council members Diana Perez and Kim Harless took their oaths of office, along with re-elected council member Erik Paulsen and re-elected Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle.

Councilmember Harless, elected in November 2021, takes over City Council Position 1 from outgoing council member Laurie Lebowsky who didn’t run for re-election.

Councilmember Perez was elected to City Council Position 3 in November, replacing Linda Glover who also served as mayor pro tem and chose not to seek re-election.

Mayor McEnerny-Ogle, who begins serving her second term as mayor, was originally elected to Vancouver City Council in November 2013, and took her first oath of office on Jan. 1, 2014. She became the first woman to serve as Mayor of Vancouver on Jan. 1, 2018.

Councilmember Paulsen was appointed to a vacant Council seat on Jan. 14, 2019. He was elected to serve the remainder of the current term for Council Position 2 on Nov. 5, 2019, and was re-elected to his current term on Nov. 2, 2021.

City Council also voted to elect current councilmember Ty Stober as mayor pro tem. Stober was elected to Council in November 2015 and reelected to his current term on Nov. 5, 2019.
