On Wednesday (March 30), Vancouver Fire Department crews responded to a report of a traffic accident on I-5 southbound just north of the Mill Plain exit. The crews from Fire Station 1, located at 4th Plain Blvd. and Main Street responded.

When the crews arrived, they found a vehicle crashed into a flatbed trailer that WSDOT crews were using to do work along the freeway. The initial fire crews found one person still in the vehicle and unable to get out. Crews had to use the jaws-of-life to cut the roof away to be able to remove the driver.

A total of seven firefighters were utilized to remove the driver from the vehicle. The driver was transported to Peace Health Medical Center with minor injuries.
