Single rider injured in motorcycle collision

Accident occurred Thursday evening in Hazel Dell

A single rider of a motorcycle suffered a significant head injury Thursday in an accident in Hazel Dell.

At about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to a single motorcycle collision at the 500 block of NE 78th Street in Hazel Dell.

Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicate the motorcycle rider had exited from Interstate 5 northbound and attempted to head westbound on NE 78th Street.  The rider appears to have turned into the eastbound lanes of 78th Street and then collided with the curb median and landed in the westbound lanes of travel.

Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor.  The rider appeared to have significant head injury from the collision and was transported to a local hospital.  The injuries turned out to be non-life threatening.

The rider’s name has not been released. Clark County Sheriff’s Traffic Unit is investigating.
