This Hawaiian-themed fundraiser will kick off with pickleball clinics in the morning and an all-skill-level pickleball scramble in the afternoon
BATTLE GROUND — The Prevent Together: Battle Ground Prevention Alliance recently announced its First Annual Pickleball for Prevention event, a fun and entertaining day dedicated to supporting youth wellness and drug prevention programs in the region. The event will take place on Sat., Oct. 26, at Chief Umtuch Middle School, starting at 9 a.m..
This Hawaiian-themed fundraiser will kick off with pickleball clinics in the morning and an all-skill-level pickleball scramble in the afternoon, offering something for both seasoned players and beginners. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite Hawaiian attire and bring their pickleball skills and Aloha spirit to the courts. In addition to the clinics and games, attendees will enjoy prizes, refreshments for purchase, a silent auction, and kids’ activity tables, creating a fun atmosphere for the whole family.
The event aims to raise funds for the nonprofit’s initiatives focused on youth wellness and the prevention of substance use among young people in the community. Proceeds will directly support local programs, including the D.R.E.A.M. Team, which promotes healthy lifestyles, emotional resilience, and education about the dangers of drug and alcohol use.
“We are thrilled to host this event, which combines the fun of pickleball — America’s fastest-growing sport — with a cause that plays an important role in shaping the future of our youth,” said Jennifer Kirby, executive director. “Prevention starts with connection and community engagement, and we hope this event will bring people together to support healthier futures for our kids.”
The Pickleball for Prevention event is open to participants of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a pickleball pro or a first-timer, there’s something for everyone. Spectators are welcome to cheer on the players and enjoy the day’s festivities.
