A 30-year-old man is in custody in Washington County (Oregon) after a report of a stolen vehicle was initiated in Clark County.

On Thursday (May 19) at 8:45 p.m., Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies located a stolen 2003 Ford F350 pickup driving in the area of NE 94th Street and NE 15th Ave in Hazel Dell.  When deputies attempted to pull it over it fled on NE Highway 99, driving over medians and running red lights.  Deputies disengaged the pursuit, but the stolen truck was located shortly after by undercover Clark County detectives.

Portland Police Bureau and Clark County Sheriff’s Office’s joint Air Support Unit located the vehicle as it crossed I-5 into Portland.  Air Support was able to follow the vehicle as it traveled through Portland and into Washington County.  Eventually the vehicle stopped in an empty parking lot at 9009 SW Hall Blvd.

Washington County deputies arrived on scene and contacted the vehicle.  The driver ran from the vehicle and into a nearby golf course.  Washington County Deputies, with the assistance of a K9 and Air Support, tracked the suspect, taking him into custody nearby without incident.

The driver, David James Curtis, was charged in Washington County on Unlawful Use of a Vehicle.  Curtis will be facing charges for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Reckless Driving, and Attempting to Elude Police in Clark County.
