All occupants were out of the vehicle at the time of the fire
At about 1 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 6), the Vancouver Fire Department (VFD) responded to a two-car motor vehicle collision on southbound I-205 just south of the NE 18th Street overpass.
An AMR ambulance, first to arrive on scene, reported one car in the median and a second car, with significant damage, on the shoulder. Moments later, the AMR crew radioed that the car, located on the shoulder, had caught fire. All occupants were out of the vehicle at the time of the fire.

The first-arriving VFD unit was able to quickly extinguish the fire. One person involved in the accident was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A second person involved was treated and released on scene.
All lanes of southbound I-205 were closed for a period of time. The Washington State Patrol (WSP) and the Washington State Department of Transportation were on scene to provide traffic control.
