Female in custody jumps out of moving patrol car

After jumping from the moving Clark County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle, unidentified female was transported to area hospital with serious injuries

An unidentified female in custody sustained serious injuries Monday when she jumped from a moving patrol vehicle.

At just past noon Monday (March 29), a deputy from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office was transporting a female in custody to jail in a marked patrol vehicle for assault IV domestic violence and interfering with a 9-1-1 call.

During the transport to the Clark County Jail, the female was able to undo her seatbelt and exit the rear passenger side window while the vehicle was traveling at freeway speeds. The female sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Due to the seriousness of the injury and the deputy being on duty, the Southwest Regional Independent Investigation Team will conduct the investigation.  Washington State Patrol (WSP) is the lead investigative agency.

The deputy involved was placed on critical incident leave.
