A passerby who called 9-1-1, pulled the occupant from the car after cutting the seat belt and disentangling the person to avoid the fire
At 3:01 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 2), Vancouver Fire Department crews were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on I-205 and Padden Parkway. A 9-1-1 caller reported the occupant of the vehicle was pinned inside and the vehicle was on fire.

It was later determined that the passerby who called 9-1-1, pulled the occupant from the car after cutting the seat belt and disentangling the person to avoid the fire. WSP arrived and placed a tourniquet on the driver’s injury. The first fire engine arrived and reported a fully involved car with an occupant laying on the ground next to the vehicle and began fire suppression efforts and caring for the injured driver simultaneously.
The driver was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Two fire engines and a battalion chief from Vancouver Fire responded with AMR to this accident.
