The community is coming to the aid of a family who lost their 2-year-old daughter in a drowning accident in Clark County over the weekend.

A GoFundMe account for Baby Georgie’s Funeral and Celebration has raised more than $13,000 as of Tuesday morning, with the goal of raising $20,000 for the cost of the funeral and to allow the family to take time off of work during the grieving process. More than 250 people have already donated.

Georgie wandered away from family and fell into the East Fork Lewis River on Saturday. “Georgie was a beautiful, funny, fearless, ferocious, and tenacious child who could brighten even your darkest days,” notes the GoFundMe page that was created by a family member. “She was a joy to all those lucky enough to be in her presence, and her light will forever shine down for us to see.”

The page also noted that Georgie’s parents have not asked for anything other than time to grieve for their “stunning little ray of sunshine.”

Family members are asking the community for help, though.

“As their family, friends, acquaintances, or even strangers, we ask you to dig deep and donate whatever you can to allow them to take as long as they need to grieve,” the post reads.
