Clark County Public Works was dispatched to the scene, however, due to the excessive damage, immediate repairs were not able to be completed
On Monday (April 10), just after 12:30 a.m., Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a suspicious abandoned vehicle near the intersection of NE 15th Ave. and NE 179th St. in Ridgefield. Deputies located an unoccupied Ford F-350 pickup which had been abandoned just south of the intersection after an apparent collision.
A preliminary investigation suggests the vehicle had been eastbound on NE 179th St. when it left the roadway near the 1400 block. The vehicle traveled through the ditch before crossing a field at the southeast corner of the intersection where it collided with a large utility box, crossed NE 15th Ave., and collided with a fence.
There was no evidence of injury observed at the scene of the collision. The damage to the utility box caused a loss of power to the traffic control devices at the intersection of NE 15th Ave. and NE 179th St. The collision also caused damage to multiple road signs along NE 179th St.
Clark County Public Works was dispatched to the scene, however, due to the excessive damage, immediate repairs were not able to be completed. Temporary stop signs have been placed at the intersection until repairs can be completed later Monday. The public is urged to drive with caution and due regard if traveling through this area.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the collision further.
