Parks and recreational opportunities are highly valued by the Battle Ground community.  Last October, nearly 600 residents participated in an initial survey about city parks and recreational resources.

Participants expressed that parks, trails, and opportunities for recreation are essential to quality of life.  Respondents envisioned a variety of park improvements and amenities – more walking and biking trails, additional picnic shelters, updated playgrounds with equipment for children of all abilities – to name a few.

The city is hosting a virtual open house to share the results of the initial survey and to get additional input from community members as to which projects and programs should be prioritized.  The city’s existing network of parks and trails will be on display for participants to provide input on park amenities, trail connections, and where additional parks, open space, and trails may be desired.

The virtual open house is available through the month of February at www.cityofbg.org/PlanningforParks.

Community input at the open house is key to forming the new Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Plan.  The plan, scheduled to be finalized this summer, will shape the future of parks and recreational resources in Battle Ground for many years to come.
