Battle Ground residents can honor military service with a commemorative brick or customized banner

Personalized, commemorative bricks may be purchased for placement at the Battle Ground Veterans Memorial to honor any U.S. veteran

The Battle Ground community has a long-standing tradition of honoring those who serve. The Battle Ground Veterans Memorial, dedicated in 2015, was fully funded and constructed by community donations.

The city of Battle Ground’s Bricks & Banners program gives community members the opportunity to publicly recognize and honor the military service of an individual.

Commemorative Bricks

Personalized, commemorative bricks may be purchased for placement at the Battle Ground Veterans Memorial to honor any U.S. veteran.  Each brick displays the veteran’s name, branch of service, and dates of service.  Bricks are engraved and installed on an annual basis in time for Memorial Day.  The cost of a personalized brick is $250. Proceeds from brick sales support the ongoing maintenance of the Battle Ground Veterans Memorial.

Military Banners

Military Banners for display along Battle Ground’s Main Street may be purchased to honor veterans, active duty personnel, and those who are entering the military with a commitment to serve. Each customized banner features an honoree’s photo, name, branch of service, rank, and years of service. The city will install and display banners along Main Street during the month of May — Military Appreciation Month — through the third week of June. The cost of a customized banner is $150.00 and includes installation for display on Main Street the initial year of purchase.

The gift of a commemorative brick or military banner is a meaningful and lasting way to honor the military service of a loved one or friend.  The purchase may be made any time of the year; orders must be placed no later than March 1 for the same year’s installation or display.

Detailed information about the Bricks & Banners program is available online or by contacting the city’s Parks & Recreation office at (360) 342-5380.
