Southbound I-5 on- and off-ramps at 39th Street to close

Closure will take place Oct. 31-Nov. 2 for city water project

VANCOUVER — Southbound Interstate 5 on- and off-ramps at East 39th Street will be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wed., Oct. 31-Fri., Nov. 2, for a city of Vancouver water main construction project.

During next week’s daily Wednesday-through-Friday closure, travelers who typically use those southbound ramps to and from 39th Street should plan ahead to use an alternate route.

City contractors are installing a new water main line along the south side of East 39th Street, from Washington Street to I-5. The project is funded by the city’s Water Utility in keeping with ongoing efforts to improve, maintain, and protect the community water supply and systems. Pavement will be restored following completion of the new water main.

The water main project began in late September. Project completion is anticipated by the end of November, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Throughout the project, efforts have been made to reduce traffic impacts to the extent possible by shifting traffic lanes and work schedules. Drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to be alert to message boards, traffic changes and flaggers in the construction zone. Please drive slowly and be prepared for possible delays.
