Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce awards five small businesses with over $9K in funding

The Chamber’s Small Business Social Media Hashtag Contest took place in the month of November

VANCOUVER — The Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce (GVCC) along with presenting sponsor of the contest, Columbia Credit Union, awarded five small businesses in SW Washington $9,500 in total funding toward their business growth and development.

The Chamber’s Small Business Social Media Hashtag Contest took place in the month of November, encouraging Chamber small businesses (and eligible participants) with fewer than 25 full-time employees to dedicate posts of testimonials for their businesses.

Over 200 public social media posts using the contest hashtag #ChamberSmallBiz were collected and five posts were selected by representatives at Columbia Credit Union on the basis of heart-felt, supportive posts either by the company or their clients.

The winners are:

  • Chandelier Bakery, Owners Monica & Mike Kersey
  • First Sight Family Vision, Owner Jason Egbert
  • Kazoodles Toy Store, Owner Mary Sisson
  • When the Shoe Fits, Owners Amy & Alan O’Hara
  • The House Pilates, Owner Monique Alloway – Small Business Assistance Program (SBAP) Winner

Four of the grants awarded to these businesses were $2,000, while The House Pilates, a participant of the Chamber’s Small Business Assistance Program (SBAP) “Start-Up to Watch” was awarded a $1,500 grant in addition to a year’s membership in the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber and Columbia Credit Union announced these winners at the Chamber’s December 18 morning networking event, Leads & Needs, held at Beaches Restaurant & Bar.
