Washington lawmakers have approved a bill creating a nearly 10% tax on income above $1 million, and the measure now heads to Gov. Bob Ferguson for his expected signature.

The Washington State Senate gave final approval to Senate Bill 6346, which would impose a nearly 10% tax on income above $1 million per household. The bill passed after more than 24 hours of debate in the House and now goes to Gov. Bob Ferguson, who has said he plans to sign it. Opponents say the measure is likely to face immediate legal challenges and could spark a statewide ballot initiative campaign. Clark County Today is asking readers what they think will happen next if the tax becomes law.
