Week 1 highlighted by Union’s hard-fought victory over Mountain View

ClarkCountyToday.com reporter Paul Valencia takes a look back at Week 1’s football action and a glance ahead at the Week 2 schedule in his weekly reports of Clark County’s high school teams.

Today, the Class 4A Greater St. Helens League teams are featured. In the next two days, reports on teams in the 3A and 2A Greater St. Helens League and the Class 1A Trico League will be featured.

Paul Valencia joins ClarkCountyToday.com after more than two decades of newspaper experience. He became the face of high school sports coverage in Clark County during his 17 years at The Columbian. Before moving to Vancouver, Paul worked at Oregon daily newspapers in Pendleton, Roseburg, and Salem. A graduate of David Douglas High School in Portland, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving three years as a soldier/journalist. He and his wife Jenny recently celebrated their 20th anniversary.
